So the dark theme moved on and I changed the factory fit white
"ST" side stripes with exact replicas in anthracite purchased from
DMB Graphics.
I fitted these DIY and they came out very
very well, no bubbles, creases, etc. I marked the originals with masking tape
and then fitted the new with a lot of soapy water and slid them into place
before using a fitted card to squeeze out the excess water. When they dried
they stuck tight.
The same vinyl was also used in the side badges (which also got the
chrome bits painted dark), the front grill badge, the fog surrounds, and the bottom lip on the
bumper. There were also a lot of Manufacturer stickers added to the powdercoated items. These were all cut by Mick Ellis of EllisGraphix.
To continue the darkness I painted the calipers in two colours (caliper one colour, the retaining clip another) and added DMB caliper decals.
I also moved the wheels out by 15mm on the front and 20mm on the rear with Eibach spacers.
All of the above was done in the two days before the RS Central Day show in 2012.
